Darrell M. Fugelberg

  • DIED: November 5, 2011
  • LOCATION: Alliance, OH

Darrell M. Fugelberg, age 81, of Alliance, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Alliance Community Care Center.
He was born February 7, 1930, in Blanchard, North Dakota to Olaf Fugelberg and Norma (Lund) Fugelberg.
Darrell attended Northwestern University in Chicago, and worked Inside Sales in hydraulic equipment for Parker Hannifin in Chicago and later, B&H Machine in Minerva for 15 years.
Mr. Fugelberg and his wife, Nancy enjoyed attending services at First Baptist Church, Christ United Methodist Church, and Salem United Methodist Church.
A. U. S. Navy Korean Conflict veteran, he enjoyed traveling, music, gardening, cooking, and working in the yard. He also loved dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy J. (Homer) Fugelberg, whom he married Aug. 27, 1977; daughter, Gale Samms of Texas; two grandchildren, Katie Samms, and Jeremiah Samms; one great-grandson; brother-in-law, Ronald (Mary Grace) Homer, of CA; sister-in-law, Barbara (George) Pish, of PA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and step-father who raised him, Raymond Satrom.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Rhodes officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 1659 W. State St. Alliance OH 44601. Arrangements are by Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home.

Jean L. Pigg, age 87, of Alliance passed away at 11:55 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2011, at McCrea Manor Nursing Home.
She was born July 26, 1924, in Alliance, Ohio to Floyd and Hazel (Emory) Sourbeck.
Jean graduated from high school in PA and, in 1990, graduated summa cum laude from Walsh College.
She retired from the Alliance Review after working in the composing room from 1962-1990.
An active member of the First Baptist Church, Jean was an avid reader, longtime volunteer at Alliance Community Hospital; and strong supporter of her children and grandchildren, encouraging and supporting them to further their education. She was also a very proud U. S. Navy WWII veteran, having served from 1944-1946.
Survivors include three children; JoEllen (Michael) Yavor of Wyomissing, PA; John Pigg of Wayland, OH; and Laura (Shawn) Andrews of Bunnel, FLA; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Virginia Shade and Ann McCarny.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Rhodes officiating. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2011, at Walton Schrader Funeral Home. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Walton-Schrader Funeral Home.



 

Karl A Atherton

         DIED: October 16, 2011

         LOCATION: Alliance, OH

Karl A. Atherton, age 46, of Alliance, died at 11:46 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center.
He was born November 7, 1964, in Elyria, Ohio, to Earl and Timoline (Smith) Atherton.
Karl attended Alliance High School.
Survivors include his mother, Timoline (Smith) Atherton of Sebring, two brothers, David Atherton of Canton and Keith (Daisy/Sherry) Atherton of Alliance; daughter, Nicole Atherton of North Carolina; four nieces; two nephews; and a great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father; three sisters; and a son, Steven Karl.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Rhodes officiating. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
